GEDP Volunteering Opportunities
Volunteer roles include:
-
Crit Course Set Up: The Course Setup team plays a vital role in the success of race day. Ideal for volunteer groups, or individuals, you’ll assist with a variety of tasks to prepare the site for competitions and festivities. Duties may include hanging signage and branding the course, sweeping the course, organizing tent spaces, and more. There’s never a dull moment when you’re setting up on race day!
-
Athlete Registration: As part of the Crit Athlete Registration Team on race day, you’ll guide athletes through the race registration process, including: distributing pre-race packets, confirming that all waivers are complete, and ensuring athletes have everything they need to compete. If you’re outgoing, organized, and enjoy meeting new people, this may be the ideal volunteer opportunity for you!
-
Crit Course Crossing Marshall: As a Crit Course Crossing Marshal, you’ll be stationed on either side of course crossings to help maintain safety for racers and spectators. You’ll monitor pedestrian traffic across the course, and make sure the course is clear when racers are in sight.
-
Water Station: Volunteers will setup and break down the aid station. Sweep up cups and stage trash to be cleared by staff. All materials will be provided.
-
Floater: Are you up for anything? Ready to pitch in however you can? Okay switching positions during your shift and keeping things interesting? Then this position might be for you! We can never be sure where we might need extra assistance on any given day, but we know we'll need it. This might mean temporarily relieving another volunteer or jumping in to help with a situation that has popped up. If you're comfortable being flexible, we'd love to have you join us for this position!
-
Retail: As a member of the Retail Team, you'll be stationed in our merchandising tent to assist with customer service, restock products, and maintain a clean and inviting setting for shoppers. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone with a background in retail sales or the hospitality industry. If you enjoy working with a variety of people, consider volunteering for our Retail Team!
-
VIP Hospitality: VIP hospitality volunteers would greet guests upon their arrival, verify their credentials or tickets, provide them with event materials, and offer any assistance or information they may need throughout the event. Additionally, they might coordinate with event organizers to ensure a smooth check-in process and address any issues from VIP guests.
-
Athlete Staging Assistants: As an Athlete Staging Assistant, you'll be stationed in the athlete staging area where athletes gather before they are released onto the course. You will be tasked with ensuring athletes understand where their position is on the starting grid and then helping get the athletes organized on the starting grid.
-
Crit Course Clean Up: Cleaning up is a key aspect of maintaining goodwill in the community. As part of the Crit Course Cleanup Crew, you’ll remove signage and branding from the course, straighten tent areas, load waste into the dumpster, and more. This is a great volunteer opportunity for groups or individuals who want to make a difference! PARTIAL SHIFT AVAILABILITY ACCEPTED FOR THIS POSITION - if, for example, you can help, but you need to leave before the end of the shift please sign up and then send an email to communicate what time you need to leave around.
