Chair Mark Haldaman presented the annual BJ Metz Young Person of the Year Award to Easton High senior Imaan Ali. The Award includes a $1,000 cash award and is based upon service instead of academics. We first met Imaan when she received a Student of the Month Award. She was the leading force behind the formation of a school-based Muslim student association to help give people a safe place to talk about their culture and help eliminate misconceptions. A visit to a Punjab village in Pakistan introduced her to the plight of so many people who endure hardships just to obtain something as simple as water. That experience led her to create a fundraiser that produced enough money to provide 15 wells in central Pakistan. Imaan has received a full scholarship to Lafayette College where she plans to study Computer Science and Economics.
