June 16, 2020. Ainsley Williams, a senior at Easton Area High School, was honored as the 2020 BJ Metz Young Person of the Year. Ainsley has been a volunteer with the Easton’s Angels, raising funds for and helping with games at the Miracle League of Northampton County; at the St.Luke’s Bethlehem campus helping staff, patients and families with whatever they needed throughout the day; and with Special Olympics programs around the Lehigh Valley. She also led “Team Easton” through a fundraising campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise over $12,000 for cancer research and supplies for patients across the nation.
Ainsley wrote in her application: “I wholeheartedly believe that helping others should always be one of the most important aspects of someone’s life. I always try to have a positive impact on someone everyday, whether it leaves a tiny smile, or a new understanding of something that may have been difficult to grasp before. Small acts of service and the positive impacts they can leave, add up to a greater good in the world around you.”
Ainsley plans to study nursing at the University of Pittsburgh in the fall. In addition to the award plaque, she received a $1,000 stipend to help fund her education.
