Generation Next Partnership Helps Easton Students Prepare for Success

The Rotary Club of Easton welcomed Amanda Starner, Program Coordinator for Generation Next at Community Action Lehigh Valley, and Jodi Fowler, Associate Director of Civic Leadership Programs at Lafayette College, to share how their partnership is helping Easton students prepare for college and career success. 

Generation Next works with Lafayette College's Landis Center to provide Easton students with valuable opportunities that support college readiness, career exploration, and post-secondary success. Through this partnership, students participate in:

• College and career readiness workshops

• Campus visits and career exploration experiences

• Mock interviews and résumé-building sessions

• Guest speaker presentations on trades, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and healthy relationships

• College essay, application, and scholarship assistance

• Mentorship and networking opportunities with professionals and community leaders

The collaboration has been serving students since 2018 and continues to grow, creating meaningful connections between Easton High School students and Lafayette College mentors. Students gain confidence, exposure to new opportunities, and a clearer understanding of their future educational and career pathways. Meanwhile, Lafayette student volunteers develop leadership and communication skills while deepening their understanding of the challenges many students face. 

Upcoming Rotary Service Project

The Rotary Club of Easton will assemble Birthday Kits for families served by the ProJeCt of Easton Food Pantry during a service event on September 17 at 5:30 p.m. These kits help families celebrate special occasions by providing cake mix, icing, candles, sprinkles, baking pans, and other party essentials. Community members interested in supporting this effort are encouraged to donate birthday kit supplies. 

Fundraising Updates

Preparations continue for Boo Bingo, scheduled for October 31. Sponsorship opportunities are now available, and proceeds from the event will support Rotary programs & service initiatives. The club is currently seeking prize basket donations, including gift cards, bottles of wine or spirits, lottery tickets, and new designer handbags. 

In addition, Easton Rotary's Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select fundraiser continues, with nearly half of the available bottles already sold. Proceeds from club fundraisers support the Rotary Club of Easton's ongoing service projects, scholarships, and community programs.
