At our February 26th meeting, we were pleased to welcome Youth Committee Chair Gayle Rogers, who shared an update on the many student opportunities supported by Easton Rotary. Our club serves approximately 10,000 students across the Easton and Wilson Area School Districts, as well as the Career Institute of Technology. The Student of the Month program continues to be a meaningful way to recognize outstanding seniors, and efforts are underway to enhance the certificates to better reflect each student’s individual accomplishments. There was also discussion about expanding recognition opportunities to include younger students, helping us engage and encourage leadership at earlier ages.

Easton Rotary has approved funding to send two students—one from Easton and one from Wilson—to attend the STEM Youth Exploration Academy this summer. Programs like STEM YEA provide valuable hands-on learning experiences and help prepare students for future careers in science and technology. Supporting local students remains a top priority, especially as many in our community continue to face significant challenges.

During our Monthly Mindfulness Minute, David Weiskotten introduced members to heart-focused breathing techniques inspired by the HeartMath Institute. This simple practice encourages individuals to slow their breathing and focus attention on the heart, helping to reduce stress and promote overall wellness.

Our meeting also included several “Happy Things” as members shared personal updates and celebrations. We recognized family milestones, travel plans, and visits with fellow Rotarians, reflecting the strong fellowship that is central to our club.

Members were reminded of several upcoming Rotary opportunities, including the Rotary Leadership Institute at DeSales University and the District Conference in Gettysburg. These events provide valuable leadership development and connection with Rotarians throughout the region and beyond.

In addition, Easton Rotary continues its Single Barrel Select Jack Daniel’s fundraiser, with bottles available for purchase. Proceeds support our club’s service projects and student programs.

Finally, Rotary International recently celebrated the opening of a new Rotary Peace Center at Symbiosis International University in Pune, India. This fully funded postgraduate program will train future leaders in peace and development, further advancing Rotary’s global mission of promoting understanding and goodwill.

Through youth programs, leadership development, and service initiatives, Easton Rotary remains committed to making a positive impact in our community and around the world.
