Community service brings people together to create meaningful change. Our Rotary Club is gearing up for several impactful projects and events as the Rotary Year draws to a close. These activities offer great opportunities to connect with fellow Rotarians, support important causes, and make a real difference in our community and beyond. Whether you want to help fight hunger, support global health efforts, or improve our local environment, there’s something for everyone to get involved in.
Below, you’ll find details about our upcoming events and service projects. Mark your calendar and consider joining us to contribute your time and energy to causes that matter.
Rotary Strike-Out Hunger and Polio Night
Date: Thursday, August 6
Location: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia Phillies vs. Washington Nationals
Our annual Rotary Strike-Out Hunger and Polio night is back and promises to be an exciting evening. This event combines the thrill of a Major League Baseball game with a powerful mission: supporting hunger relief and Rotary’s global effort to eradicate Polio.
This year’s event is especially memorable because Rotary International President Olayinka (Yinka) Babalola from Nigeria will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. It’s a unique chance to see Rotary leadership in action and celebrate our shared commitment to service.
Why this event matters:
Hunger affects millions locally and worldwide; this event raises funds and awareness to combat food insecurity.
Polio eradication remains a top global health priority, and Rotary has been at the forefront of this fight for decades.
The event fosters fellowship among Rotarians and community members, strengthening our network and impact.
How to participate:
Purchase tickets to the game and join us in the designated Rotary section.
Spread the word to friends and family who want to support these causes.
Wear Rotary gear to show your pride and solidarity.
This event is a fun way to enjoy a summer evening while supporting two critical causes. Let’s cheer on the Phillies and help strike out hunger and Polio!
Pack the Purse Service Project
Date: Wednesday, May 7
Location: Pomfret Club – Upstairs Room
We are excited to bring back Pack the Purse, a project that provides essential items to women in need. Volunteers collect and assemble purses filled with toiletries and small comforts that can brighten someone’s day.
Current donations include:
$10 Target gift cards (thanks to Jean’s generous contribution)
Snacks, travel wipes, and Kleenex (donated by John David)
Items still needed:
Shampoo and conditioner
Soap
Toothpaste and toothbrushes
Mints
Pocket calendars or notebooks
Pens
Snacks
$10 gift cards (Dunkin’ or Target)
Your donations help create care packages that offer practical support and show kindness to women facing difficult circumstances. If you want to contribute, please bring items to the Pomfret Club before May 7 or contact the project coordinator for drop-off details.
Volunteering to pack the purses is also a rewarding way to connect with others and see the impact of your generosity firsthand.
Spring Clean-Up with The Marquee Residents
Date: Saturday, April 25
Time: 9:00–11:00 a.m.
Location: The Marquee, downtown Easton
Our community looks its best when we all pitch in. This spring, we are partnering with residents of The Marquee, a new apartment building downtown, for a Spring Clean-Up event. Together, we will clear dead leaves, pull weeds, and refresh shared outdoor spaces.
What to bring:
Your own garden gloves
Rotary gear if you have it
This project is a great way to meet neighbors, improve our environment, and show pride in Easton. It’s also a chance to enjoy some fresh air and light exercise while making a visible difference in our community.
